How do I access Cool Beans articles now?
Our full archive is available on our new website, coolbeans.one5c.com, and paid subscribers still have full access to everything. Free subscribers can browse and search, as well, but may find that certain stories—like our original recipes—are locked similar to the way they were on Substack.
How do I log in?
For paid subscribers, logging in is easy and you can do it one of two ways:
- Passwordless login: This method emails a “magic link” directly to your inbox. Just click it to sign you into your account.
- Email address/password: If you prefer to enter a password to log in, you can set one up the first time you log in. (Accounts do not have a password set initially.) To set a password, choose “Log in another way>” on the login screen and then choose “Forgot your password?” on the next screen.
How do I manage my subscription now?
If you’re a paid subscriber, you can manage your subscription, personal information, and payment information at coolbeans.one5c.com. Once logged in, click on “My Account” in the upper-right corner of your browser on desktop; to find “My Account” on a mobile device, tap the hamburger icon in the upper-left corner to expand the menu, and choose “My Account” toward the bottom of your device.
Do I need to re-enter my payment information?
No, your payment info was securely migrated to our new home, and will continue to be associated with your subscription for future renewals, where applicable. You can update your payment information anytime at coolbeans.one5c.com/my-account.
Is my payment information safe?
Yes, your payment information is secured by Stripe, the industry-leader in payment processing and management. Your payment information is not stored directly on our sites or servers.
I’m set up for auto-renewal. Will that still work?
Yes, your subscription will renew automatically on its regularly scheduled renewal date. We’ll email you prior to any renewal dates, as well.
Will the price of paid subscriptions be changing?
No, the cost of a paid Cool Beans subscription isn’t changing, regardless of billing cycle. As some of the earliest subscribers to Cool Beans, we value your loyalty and are not increasing prices as part of this migration.
I signed up for a free trial, but I’m not sure if it’s still active. Help?
We stopped offering free trials a couple weeks before we moved off of Substack. They lasted one week, so if you had one active it expired before the move. If you liked it, why not consider upgrading? You can do that here.
Why did you leave Substack?
We decided to move off of Substack for a buncha reasons, but mostly so that we could be in a position to make Cool Beans even better. There are also a handful of business-y things that we won’t bore you with, but suffice it to say: Being on our own website means it’ll be way easier for us to reach more readers, therefore do better (financially speaking), and make even more yummy things for y’all to enjoy.
What’s gonna be different?
Not a lot at first. You’ll still get your twice-weekly helpings of delicious, planet-friendly eats delivered to your inbox, though the emails may look slightly different. Our team’s the same, actually even a bit bigger because we’ve got some super-smart tech people helping us make cool stuff now. The biggest immediate difference is that if you want to peruse our archive of recipes and dispatches from the wide world of planet-friendly eating, you’ll now do that on our new website, which you can find right here at coolbeans.one5c.com. Bookmark it! (Do people still do that?)
I’ve liked some recipes on Substack to save for later. Can I still see those likes?
Unfortunately, this is one thing we couldn’t carry over from Substack, so if you saved some deliciousness to come back and cook later, you’ll have to search the archives. That’s the bad news. The good news is that our site search is way better than it was on Substack.
Do I need to re-subscribe?
Nope! You’re all set. Everyone’s subscriptions and email addresses are still safely on our list.
Where can I read the archives?
We’re excited about this part, because our archives are all now searchable on coolbeans.one5c.com. We spent a fair amount of time sprucing up our recipes, too, so they should be easier to read and find than before.
Will you still be on Substack at all?
Our old home on Substack will stay up for a couple months, but if you’ve got it saved in your bookmarks you’ll want to update it to coolbeans.one5c.com, because we won’t be posting any new stuff there and we are going to shut it down for realsies sometime soon.
